A Summer Outing at Souto Farm Market, Just North of Airdrie

August 8, 2026

Some family outings feel like a reset button. Today we headed north of Airdrie to Souto Farm Market, where a few simple activities, fresh food, and plenty of prairie air made for a wonderfully easy summer day.

Room to Play and Explore

Our young one had lots of ways to burn off energy. The playground came first, followed by the bouncy castle and a little corn maze. It was the kind of place where a child can move from one discovery to the next without the grown-ups needing to plan every minute.

Mini Goats, Green Beans, and a Little Farm Magic

The petting area was another highlight. We met the mini goats, including Oliver and Dixie, and got to feed them green beans. It was a small moment, but exactly the sort of hands-on experience that makes a farm outing memorable for a young child.

Pizza, Ice Cream, and Fresh Things for Home

There was something for the grown-ups too. We enjoyed stone-oven pizza and large scoops of ice cream, then wandered through the farm-to-home market. We brought home peaches, cherries, beets, and several other vegetables for the week.

Parent note: Souto Farm Market worked well for us because the day could stay flexible: play first, pause for food, visit the animals, and browse the market at an unhurried pace.

A Calm Prairie Summer Outing

What we loved most was the atmosphere. The outdoor air, wide prairie views, simple farm activities, and relaxed pace made Souto Farm Market feel calm without being boring. Everyone got a little tired, a little happier, and ready for dinner made with fresh things from the farm.

It was a good reminder that a memorable family day does not have to be complicated. Sometimes all you need is a playground, a few animals, good food, and some fresh prairie air.
